Before you install
Windows
Windows installers are digitally signed by David Hellmer, Silo's developer. SmartScreen may still prompt on a brand-new release while its reputation builds, but it names the publisher instead of "unknown". After that, Silo updates itself: it checks for a new version of the app at launch and installs it in one click.
macOS
The macOS builds are unsigned. Open Silo once, then choose Open Anyway in System Settings, Privacy & Security.
Check a download
Compare a file's SHA-256 with the value above, or with the release's SHA256SUMS.txt. On Windows: Get-FileHash .\file.exe. On macOS and Linux: shasum -a 256 file. The
.sig files on the release page are for Silo's own updater. How to verify a download.
